The project comprises the development of a modern, clearly structured signage system for the Medical Faculty of the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). The focus is on creating a functional and aesthetically appealing orientation system for an educational institution that optimizes orientation on campus and meets the requirements of students, employees and visitors. The signage system is based on the UKE’s corporate design (CD), but with a contemporary, minimalist approach that integrates harmoniously into the architecture of the medical faculty. The branding of the UKE is used as a basis to ensure a consistent and modern visual identity through a clear color and design language as well as concise typography. This design ensures that the signage system optimally reflects both the orientation functions and the identity of the UKE. In the context of universities and educational institutions, clear and comprehensible orientation is particularly important to make everyday life easier for students, staff and visitors. The new signage system helps all users to find their way quickly and safely. It not only fulfills the functional requirements, but also supports the visual appearance of the Faculty of Medicine by creating a coherent and modern atmosphere. The clear structure of the signage system enables intuitive navigation through the campus and thus facilitates orientation in a complex university environment. With its simple, clear design and user-friendly structure, the signage system becomes an indispensable part of daily campus life, helping to create a pleasant, efficient and stress-free environment. It not only promotes effective use of the campus, but also strengthens the UKE’s identity as a progressive and innovation-oriented educational institution.
